This article investigates the list of five faculties of the soul "sensus, imaginatio, ratio, intellectus, intelligentia", which can be found in several 12th-century authors (chiefly, Hugh of Saint Victor and Isaac of Stella). It discusses its origin in Boethius (where the list sensus, imaginatio, ratio and intelligentia can be found, with several differences compared to the 12th-century list). It also discusses various other 12th-century lists, similar to the one above
